About Me
“Brian is a generalist with more depth in everything than anyone has a right to at this point in their career”
I’m a backend, big data developer currently working in AWS Security. I write tools to help security engineers and analysts be more efficient and effective. In a pinch, I also use my expertise in data extraction to assist in investigations.
I strive for excellence in what I make. My philosophy is that moving fast and breaking things is for people whose work doesn’t matter; by being intentional about our actions and taking the time to polish our work, we create things that will last orders of magnitude longer than those that were rushed to market.
My projects:
- IOC Detection Platform
- Alarming Platform + Analytics Service
- Investigative tools
- Spark jobs running at 100+ petabyte scale
My greatest skills, in approximate order:
- Scala
- Data extraction/processing
- Back-end web
- Databases
- Spark
I went to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where I received a Bachelor’s of Science in Computer Science in May 2017. I helped run the Rensselaer Center for Open Source.
